Pitching the Business Value of Your Research

Our Innovation and Research Engagement Office (IREO) and Office of Commercialization (OC) would like to help you grow your research and its impact. Join us to hear researchers pitch their business ideas to industry, alumni, and faculty.

IREO works with students, faculty and staff to position WSU’s creative, scholarly and technical assets in ways that maximize impact and return value to our state and national stakeholders.

 

The mission of OC is to ensure that innovations and discoveries by WSU researchers are evaluated, protected where possible, and licensed by industry partners or start-ups to move technologies forward and generate benefits for researchers, WSU, and the public.

 

As part of Research Week 2019, IREO and OC would like to help grow WSU research and its impact through the “Pitching the Business Value of Your Research” event for faculty, researchers, and graduate students at WSU. This 2-hour “shark tank” style pitch session is a prime opportunity for WSU researchers to learn and practice effective presentation skills for communicating the business value of their research.  Attend and witness this showcase of quality presentations made by your peer researchers while they receive invaluable insights and feedback from a panel of successful industry experts and faculty entrepreneurs.

 

The Top 10 applications will be selected to present at Research Week 2019. The Top 3 presentations will receive not only the distinction of “Best Research Pitch,” but also a cash award of $3,000 for 1^st Place, $2,000 for 2^nd Place, $1,000 for 3^rd Place, to go towards their lab account.

 

Selected applicants have been notified. Those presenting will pitch the value of their business to audience members and industry guests. They will each be given 5 minutes to present. Come to support your fellow colleagues and build partnerships.
